Kilimanjaro

The roof of Africa: the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, visible from several of our safaris.

When to go

June to October and January to March, the most stable windows for the climb.

What to expect

Six to eight-day Machame and Lemosho routes, with Tanzanian porters and guides, and acclimatisation designed to get you to the top, not to get there fast.

Where to stay

High-altitude camps along the route, and a resting lodge before and after the climb.

Resting lodge before the Kilimanjaro climb

You do not need to climb it to feel it

Many of our northern Tanzania safaris have Kilimanjaro as a backdrop, even without doing the full climb.

Can be combined with a classic safari or the full trek.
